The Tree Ring Lab at the College of Forestry investigates forest disturbance, forest successional dynamics, and climate. We have developed multi-century tree ring histories broadly across Oregon and Washington that provide a shared understanding of the ecological and social history of forest ecosystems in the Pacific Northwest. We work carefully to provide partners including collaborative groups, indigenous tribes, and state and federal agencies with research that informs forest restoration and adaption to future disturbances and climate change.
Our lab is growing quickly and is uniquely equipped to efficiently process and precisely analyze dendrochronological samples including large cross sections. We can collaborate with partners across the fantastic variety of research supported by tree ring analysis including dendroclimatology, dendroanthropology, dendroentomology, and of course dendropyrochronology! We can assist with collection, processing, crossdating and measurement of wood samples, and we are happy to provide consultation about tree ring research.
